I'm gonna stop apologising for my massive gaps between posts because they seem to have unfoprtunately become the norm.

I was looking at my posts and I realised I never even blogged about getting my new job and I've been working here for over a year! So I'll provide an update regarding what I've been up to since my last post following graduation. It's more for posterity than anything else as I hope most of you guys know what I've been up to.
After graduating i completed the contract project at the university and all was good. I then moved away and began working at an architects before xmas last year and I'm still here so I must enjoy it.

Fortunately we've seemingly been relatively unaffected by the "credit crunch" unlike most of the construction industry, as we have a good spread of work between private and public clients. So far I've definitely been kept busy!

At the moment I'm considering whether I shoud go back to university next September and continue my course hoping that the economy improves by the time I finish or whether to wait a little while.

Umm that'll do for now I don't wanna overdo it in one giant post. Save some for later

Obscure 80's TV

I've been inspired to do another post sharing some of my favourite (and not so favourite) 80's educational videos with you all.
So without further ado:

1) El Nombre

He writes numbes in the sand and helps out his mentally challenged freind "little Juan". Catchy theme :)

2) Geordie Racer

A show which I can only presume was intended to teach us children of the north east the correct way to speak proper Geordie, it featured an outcast protoginist from a family of runners, whose only past time was pigeon fancying. However using his incredible Geordie skills and favourite pigeon "Blue Flash" he manages to save Newcastle from the terrible art theives!

3) Magic E

One can only assume the creator of this video had a few too many magic e's during its production. It's interesting to watch various other "Look & Read" videos such as Through the Dragon's Eye and note that the same guy seems to sing every single song.

4) Square One TV
This one's a bit of a consolation video, as I haven't been able to find the Square Girl area song I was looking for, but this one will do. This series also encompasses such classics as Mathman (rip-off of pacman) and Mathcourt where people settle their differences using maths.

If you can stand to watch the whole video you're a better man than I.
What better way to teach kids the joy of estimating than with giant 80's shoulder pads!

Apple iPods...

Don't buy one! I've had my iPod nano 2g for less than a year and a half (just long enough to be out of warranty).
A few days ago I noticed it had a white scree, but was still playing, I switched it off thinking it'd sort itself out, but no. Anyway I researched it on t'internet and discovered that it's actually a recurring problem with all iPods and apparently Apple just shrug their shoulders and say try a reset.
Well I've tried resetting it and that fixed it... until I turned it off and turned it back on again, you guessed it - white screen.
I'm so annoyed because I bought it to replace a crappy little unreliable mp3 player, but I ended up with a stylish, crappy little unreliable mp3 player or a very expensive iPod shuffle.

Let this be a warning to anyone who fancies an iPod, but hasn't heard about this problem. Just think carefully before you buy - I wish I'd gone for the Creative now.

P.S. Sorry to come back with a rant, but this has seriously got me pissed off.

So I carried the little garden gnome all the way throught the game with me, only occasionally using him as a handy projectile. When eventually I got to the rocket, I was sad to leave him, and contemplated taking him with me to the end of the game rather than firing him into space.
However I eventually gave in and shoved him in the rocket as you can see.

I then carried on with completing the game while contemplating the fate of my digital companion. However tragedy struck! as the credits rolled no achievement was unlocked - alas, I had neglected to close the hatch thus voiding my attempt.
T'was a sad day indeed...

Volume 16

Just got Volume 16 delivered. I left it a while after it came out due to moving house and starting a new job etc. As you can guess I've been pretty busy and my motivation to update waned somewhat, but a new Volume requires a new post so there you have it.
I was slightly confused at first by the plot as it's been a while since I read any Excel Saga and as I haven't finished reading it yet I won't be giving anything away.

In other news I got Metroid Prime 3, which I'm still working my way through (I'm on 93%) and for the first time ever in the series I may actually get all of the power ups. The controls are great and it's really just more of prime overall so I can't really complain or say it's blown me away, but I'll reserve judgement until after fighting dark samus. I really aimed to finish it before I get Super Mario Galaxy this week, but we'll see if I manage or not.

Portal and Half Life 2 Episode 2 were awesome as usual although that last bit in ep 2 was a bit of a pain although fun. In fact i'm having another go at ep2, but I'm trying to get the little rocket man achievement.

I also did the little test below and was quite pleased I thought the level of this blog would be no more than primary school, but there you have it. I have no idea how it's calculated however.

I'm not gonna promise to update soon, but I may do - who knows I'll try to keep the blog alive though.

Oh and talking of the Orange Box if anyone has a Steam account and would like my spare copy of Half Life 2 and/or Half Life 2 Episode 1 leave a comment and I'll think about it. Do something to amuse me and you may sway my favour.

Okay let's get this back in order.

First off sorry for the lack of updates. To be honest I haven't even been reading everyone's blogs lately, which is really unforgiveable. Hopefully I'll be able to catch up tomorrow.

It's been a busy time since the last post. After graduation I was in Rome taking photos, which I unfortunately can't show yet as they're for the university, but hopefully you'll be able to see them once the website is done. I pretty much walked constantly while I was there and the skin on my feet still hasn't fully regenerated, but it was enjoyable even in the 30 - 40 degree heat.
The flight back was interesting as the pilot had to abort the first landing attempt, luckily he made it on the second go.

When I got back from Rome t'was my birthday, so there was much celebrating to be done. After that the house had to be tidied and whatnot for the estate agents to come value it. That pretty much brings me up to date where the last weekend was spent decorating and I now have to try and keep everything reasonably tidy in case anyone wants to come and look at the place. Although I still haven't finished painting everywhere, but I'm taking this week off.

So there you have it - the month in under 300 words.

In other news I found an awesome cover of "Monkey Magic" by Monkey Magik on Japanese Itunes, unfortunately I couldn't download it, but I highly recommend Paul to while he's in Japan!
I did manage to find a reasonable dance version of it however.

Ok, I'll start off with shoes.

Personally i'm not a big fan of shoes, if everyone kept the streets nice and tidy we could all be shoeless all the time and what a jolly world that would be, but as it is shoes tend to be quite necessary. Some might say that my relatively large shoe collection (for a male at least) undermines my apparent dislike of shoes, but the fact is there all entirely necessary. To maintain maximum comfort at all times it is crucial to select the right shoes for the job.
I'd like to divide the shoes into 3 sections or zones as it were. You've got the comfortable shoes e.g. the sandals, trainers, etc. which hopefully your everyday shoes will fall into. Then you've got the posh shoes which only come out for job interviews, celebrity dinners and meeting the queen. Finally there's the functional shoes such as the boots and wellys.

One of my favourite experiences are when you find a pair of shoes that fit perfectly first time and this usually only happens when I buy English shoes, from this I must deduce that I have the typical English foot witch is apparently wide with a steep instep making most shoes too narrow or flat to fully enjoy. One amusing example of my shoe difficulties was recently trying to remove my mud covered wellys, I managed to remove one with the classic technique of standing on it with the other, but the other was completely stuck. Being fairly drunk standing in mud and trying desperately to remove the other welly really was not enjoyable. I actually started panicking thinking that I would never be able to remove the offending boot and would have to go to bed with one leg sticking out the tent door. In the end I managed to convince Rob to pull of the damn thing with the payment of a wet wipe.

Hayfever

I hate hayfever, it always seems that I spend all summer sneezing with itchy eyes and then the winter treat is the sneezing and headaches mmm beautiful.

Anyway this season I have apparently developed an awesome new hayfever sympton along the lines of asthma (OK it might actually just be asthma triggered by pollen, but I'll group it in there ith hayfever anyway). All of this means that glastonbury is gonna probably be the worst place on earth for me to go right now, but luckily it looks like it's gonna be pissing down so all that evil grass will soon become lovely harmless mud - yay!

If that plan fails I have my copious amounts of drugs to get me through it - all legal ones btw.
I'll list them for sake of space fillage and cos everyone loves a list.

Loratadine 10mg tablets - the standard hayfever cure all, until the grasses really get jiggy with it and it becomes useless.

Nasofan Aqueous Flucticasone Propionate - Great name. Doctor told me off for not using this every day because I hate squirting stuff up my nose.

Rapitil 2% Eye Drops - They burns usss!

Ventolin Evohaler - It's full of puffs, haha! Ahhhhh forget it. Evohaler the inhaler of the future today. That's my newest addition so I was quite excited to have one because they make your heart beat faster - which is kind of like having a superpower, like Popeye with spinach except instead of getting big muscles you can start shaking! Awesome!

2 Months!

Since my last post! I'm really sorry, especially after the promises I made in the last post, but that 2 month absence pretty much sums up how busy I've been.
The whole time was spent finishing my final year project and sleeping (and maybe a little bit more recently was spent drinking). So that's my student days over (for the time being at least) and I guess i'm now officially a scientist! How odd?

I'll be taking a year off to officially chillax and do a bit of real work where it's limited to nice 8 hour shifts rather than every waking minute and we'll see where I take it from there. It's a shame to see everyone leave and to know that I'll probably never have so many friends all in one place again, but I'm also looking forward to something new and to the break.

Moving with the times

As you all can hopefully see the blog has moved past the present and into the future - today, with this incredible facelift. Although there were some casualties during the grand unification and purging process hopefully most of the functionality has remained. I took the opportunity to update the countdown system and eliminate some links that were no longer useful.

I guess it's aboot time for another proper post, as I have been slacking lately with my pathetic attempts to satisfy my enormous reader base with mere quizzes. No, there will be no more slacking from henceforth I decree ye blog shall be respected with real posts rather than the inane ramblings of previous days!

In other news I was quite pleased with Apple's announcement to provide some itunes downloads without DRM, all be it at a higher price. However i haven't managed to find any of these elusive creatures so far. Either way it's a step in the right direction and hopefully labels other than EMI will follow suit.

In other other news I somehow managed to get a ticket for Glastonbury after spending Sunday morning on the phone and t'internet so that should be quite enjoyable.

I actually forgot to right about the thing that spurred me to sign into blogger in the first place so I had to edit the post. Anyway it was this. Ha ha, actually all the Sony ps3 hating that was going on got a bit tedious, and if the price keeps going down maybe even I will buy one!

9 Dragons

I just downloaded 9 Dragons, it's an MMO game similar to World of Warcraft except there's only humans and you're training to be the ultimate martial arts master. So far I haven't really done anything except the training mission, but it seems like a pretty good game, I'm in the "League of Beggars", which is the coolest name ever. Even if I couldn't call myself Sir Digby Chicken Ceasar becaus it was too long.

Anyway you're probably thinking why should I bother getting this rather than WOW - well it's free! I do love things that are free and so it gains many bonus points for that. I recommend you go visit the site and give it a whirl, you've got nothing to loose other than 700MB of HD space!

There's some really interesting stuff going down in this book. I was really disappointed to finish it as I can't wait to see what Lord Ilpalazzo does next, absolute genius way to conquer the city I might add. However I'm now too frightened to say anymore as it may give away the plot, which would be a travesty indeed.

Catastrophic Failure

No, I'm not talking about my attempt to complete the Cave of Ordeals (one level away from finishing = 2 hours wasted), but the sad departure of my beloved hard disk. It went peacefully this morning during my sleep. I sadly failed to resucitate it and it was pronounced dead at 2pm this afternoon.
Following attempts at cryogenics failed to provide any lasting memories of this dear friend, but did almost cause me to lose my fingertips through frostbite.
I feel let down and dissapointed in the pc that I created, but I suppose it was really just a cry for attention. So feeling guilty for my neglect I have opted to buy another hard disk to accompany the replacement of the previous model, thereby preventing me from losing 3 days work and countless hours of reinstallations in the future.
While such an event proves highly annoying I do gain a small amount of geeky joy from the fact that i'll get to buy new hardware and take my pc to pcs.
Hours of endless fun!

Well sorry folks that was a rather large break, but now I'm back - all coursework finished (sorta) and holidays over.
Spent most of my holiday doing said coursework and I'm now enjoying the short break before I start the beast of a 30 credit project.
Holidays were good considering the work I had and I went to Tenerife as usual (I'm so bored of it now to be honest), that and the truly awful experience that airports have now become. (Cheers Al Qaeda and paranoid government that exchanges freedom for quasi-security). Oooh I'm getting all political here, back to happy times, happy thoughts :)
Jeff has got me addicted to facebook, which is surprisingly awesome.
The greatest news of all however is that I've received my copy of Excel Saga volume 15, which I'm currently savouring. It's interesting to see that the old fan-service is increasing exponentially over time.

Zelda

Well I just finished it in under 40 hours. IGN said it took 50 hours without doing the sidequests! but I completed some and started most of the sidequests so I they must really suck at it or I'm really good. Then again the first four bosses took me about 2mins to finish off until they got slightly trickier.

!SPOILER ALERT!
Having completed it i'm pleased to see a decent return of Ganondorf, I thought who's this Zant guy and then got to the desert bit and was like "yeah, we's gonna get some Ganondorf action goin on!" and let's just say the final Ganondorf battles are classic and awesome!

So I guess I'll be waiting til January for the next good titles to appear - there's a pretty sweet line up too.

Hmm six weird things should be easy, let's see:

1) I like crisp and drink combos for example - pepsi/coke with ready salted is the ultimate, otherwise it has to be Britvic 55 (orange flavoured substitute will do, but this is best) with beef and onion.

2) I like to make up songs while I cook/make tea e.g. Making a cup of tea often goes with the cup of tea song which is "cup of tea, cup of tea, cuppa teeee" to the tune of that football song/chant -you know dududuuuu dududuuuu dududuuuu du du duuuu.

3) Whenever Jeff mentions Baileys (one of his favourite girly beverages hehe) I always shout "I'm old Greeeeg!" or something along those lines.

That'll do for now, I need time to think up 3 more decent ones.

Wii

I promised Alice I'd post about it so I am - even if it is a little late.
I got mine on the launch day. Despite turning up at Woolworths at 9.30am and being told the Wiis were stuck in Germany, I got a message from Tom Baker (gotta love BT text messaging) 2 hours later saying that my wii console was ready for collection. So we ran and drove as fast as we could and got there just before this other guy who was going to pick his up. I got mine first! Eat that!
Anyway none of the other stuff had arrived so I went out on Saturday to buy 3 more controllers and Zelda.

I have to say it's an awesome console and I think very few people could resist it once they've tried it because it really is amazing. The pointer has pinpoint accuracy - someone please bring Time Crisis to the Wii!
The motion sensing really does work and Zelda is just as fantastic as I'd hoped - the graphics are great considering it's technically a gamecube game, certainly up there with Resident Evil 4.

The one downside is that Wii Sports and Rayman can be rediculously tiring - if you play a Wii for a day you'll realise how unfit you really are! I was pretty much fine yesterday - except after sprinting like a maniac in Rayman, but today my biceps are knackered and my backs not so good after dodging in Boxing (it actually feels like i've been in a fight). So you should definitely watch out and probably do warm ups before you play. The best part was today when Jeff laughed at me for being all achey until he tried to lift weights and then cried like a little girl*

I reckon if Nintendo is trying to become the Apple of the console market they've done a damn good job. It's quite surprising how popular these things are - I thought it'd be easy to get hold of one, but evry shop I saw had sold out signs plastered everywhere. Not only that, but only one shop in town had any wiimotes.

*Possibly slight exaggeration, but fairly accurate.

Just discovered the Bruce Campbell website
Apparently there's a new movie coming out next year called My Name Is Bruce in which Bruce Campbell fights hordes of demons!
Wish it was zombies, but it's fair enough if he wants to fight some new stuff, although I guess he fought demons in Evil Dead. So there is still hope for Zombies I guess.
Hmm, maybe I should ask.
Also there's apparently gonna be an Evil Dead remake. I don't see why a remake is needed, but I'll certainly welcome any evil dead starring Bruce Campbell!
He's also apparently gonna be in Spider Man 3, now you don't even need to visit the site :) That's all the news.

Everyone loves zombies and what better time to be a zombie than at halloween?
But what do you do when you don't have any stoopid girly makeup or actual face paint or even fake blood? You have to run around the house looking for stuff, but don't use ketchup it smells too kethupy. I found that oil pastels are the best way to achieve proper manly makeup effects - but they do tend to come off fairly easily with sweat :(
Here's me zombified and the red eyes are a bonus too!

I got a little too drunk by combining beer, wine, vodka jelly and whiskey - not good, but it all makes the effect more realistic.

Peanut butter

I haven't able to think of much to post about lately so I'll choose peanut butter.
I've suddenly refounded my love for peanut butter and for the first time ever mixed it with the ubiquitous jam or jelly. I always used to think that Americans were weird putting Jelly on their sadwiches, but once you know jelly means jam then it all makes sense. Such a delightful treat it is with the crunchy savouryness of the peanuts and the smooth, sweet jammy goodness mmmmm.

In other news Jeff has returned and has yet again failed to pull himself from the crappy 4th position in Mario Kart Double Dash that was favoured previously.

Wii!

Probably a bit late with this post, but never mind.
So the Wii's gonna be out on December 8th. I'd really like to get one on day 1, but i'm not sure whether I'll have time to play it. I may well preorder - the £179 price is pretty sweet, but 3 wiimotes at £29 each is gonna make me a tad upset especially if I need to buy 3 more nunchucks in the long run.
Oh well such is the price I must bear.

I've heard talk that despite the hype some believe Nintendo's new console will be a repeat of the gamecube with little third party support. I personally will buy one simply for Nintendo's own releases, as I don't really buy enough games to care too much as long as I have Metroid, Zelda and Super Smash Bros I'm set. However I'd like Nintendo to do well, as they're almost certainly the least evil of the console manufacturers (Despite region coding being implemented in the end).

The Pope and Islam

It's not very often that I'd side with the Pope, but today I have unuasually done so. When I first heard about the anger of Muslims regarding his published comments - I thought "Good probably serves him right". However after seeing how poorly many reacted to the news I became rather intrigued.
It was a comment from a protestor on the news in London who said "If you insult Mohammed you deserve to be harmed". The interviewer then asked him if he was prepared to do such a thing and he said no, but others will that's why he was having a peaceful protest. This got me thinking firstly - Why are you protesting in London when it's got absolutely nothing to do with us and second HOW DARE YOU THREATEN ME and the people who live here - who you live with for disagreeing with you!

I'm actually getting very annoyed at how we're now being dictated to about what can be said/published/shown in our own country because it may cause offense to Muslims. I believe that if you wish to live here there's some simple rules you should agree to and the first one is freedom of speech. If you don't like something that's fine - tell me why you don't like it and don't watch it, but don't tell me it must be banned!

I've actually read the Pope's speech and I can tell by how difficult it was to find that very few others have done, so all this trouble has actually been caused by extremists taking the Pope's words (actually they're not even the Pope's words, they're the words of a Byzantine emperor) out of context and using them for their own purposes.

If you believe that Mohammed was not violent but a good guy then tell people what good stuff he did - why he should be highly regarded, don't they see the irony in setting fire to churches and killing nuns?

If you refuse to accept criticism then this is never gonna get sorted out - that was actually what the Pope was saying, and he was right.

As requested by Toby here's the tale of two Kierans. Whilst walking along Brighton seafront behind the one and only (or so I thought) Mr K, some guy passed me and for a brief moment was next to Kieran. As i looked on in awe I started laughing, as this bloke (let's call him Mr K v2) looked like he could be Kieran's twin from behind. As I pointed this out to Fred and Toby they also saw the resemblance.
The icing on the cake was when he turned around and even wore the same glasses - it was then that I was truly terrified, but unable to do anything due to my maniacal laughter.
I'm still chuckling now.

Anyway you're wondering how the hell does that relate to the title and the answer is that it doesn't. Unless as I predict Kieran becomes PM for Iceland in 2043.
It actually relates to my sighting of Anthony Stewart Head today in the car park of PC World in Bath. I noticed him getting into his Mercedes CLK (dunno what model no. it was though), Fred and I watched as he lowered the roof and drove off. I was going to follow him to see where his house was, but didn't know which way he went :(
I also thought that it would be highly amusing to shout "Giles" or "Mr Prime Minister" - I think he really would have enjoyed that.

Snakes on a motherfucking Plane!

Is one of the most enjoyable films I've seen for a while. I was almost pissing myself laughing for the entire first half where everyone is being bitten/devoured by snakes in the crudest possible way.
I'm not gonna bore you with the plot as all you need to know is in the title. Snakes on a Plane has it all - that is snakes on a plane!
The horribly evil English guy was my favourite character in the film, and delivered the best line "Fucking dog, fucking baby, fucking Americans!". I won't spoil it for you, but later he throws the dog into an anaconda just before he gets his own commupance - it was patently gonna happen.
Another choice moment was when everyone fell off the staircase and got injured in some hysterical ways like getting impaled on random junk.
I think this review that really inspired me to see it sums the film up perfectly. I'd say it's like a cross between Airplane and the Runaway Nuclear Train (or something like that).

In closing I think the film could have done with some more snakes on the plane - there just weren't enough for the real snakes on a plane enthusiast who would probably want at least 28602 snakes on their plane. However I can't see how anyne can be disappointed by this film, as it delivers exactly what it says - Snakes on a Plane that is!

Was watching Sharia TV last night, well I say watching when I actually turned it off after 10 mins because it just pissed me off. Basically it was talking about how more fundamental Muslims were trying to tell other Muslims that "they were doing it wrong". After thinking about this with the TV off I thought how I've lately started hating organised religion more and more.

I guess I can't really help it what with the t-e-rr-o-r-ists about, but a lot of these laws are simply outdated and control mechanisms. One of the fundamentalist twats said that women had to be covered up to control themselves (I mean WTF - how many women actually commit rape compared to men? Not many I should think).
Basically I have no problem in people having certain beliefs about god, but they just seem incredibly foolish when they follow the words of the Bible/Torah/whatever without actually questioning these things.

Here's one example - you're not allowed to make something that looks like your god. Why? I can get the thing where you can't worship it, but why can't you draw a picture of Mohammed or The Flying Spaghetti Monster (actually I think you can for that one).
I mean all these Muslim dudes got well upset about that (I can understand the dislike of the bomb in his hat and whatnot), but what's the reason for the straightup banning of reproducing his image. If people wanna do something creative to worship their whatsamcallit then I'd be all for that.

While I'm at - why do you wanna go and blow up some planes? I wonder if a terrorist has ever got on a plane and thought fuck it, I'm gonna go enjoy my holiday in the good ol' US of A rather than blowing up some small, innocent (all be it annoying while screaming) baby. And how about something more imaginitive than a bomb, how about some snakes on a plane?

From my previous drunken, but justified rantings, I read today about 3 twelve year old kids getting locked up for 2 hours and having DNA samples taken for ripping some branches off a tree on public land.
This seems a bit ott to me, who hasn't pulled branches off a tree or at least climbed a tree when they were kids. I would guess everyone has, unless you lived in a shoe or a desert or something. I don't know how much damage they did, but surely the most it deserved was a word or two from the police.
In fact just the other day I pulled a branch off a tree to make myself a handy shopping bag handle. I know where I'd like to stick it if a copper tried to arrest me for it!

Had a really good night tonight. BBQ then went to a club. However it was pretty much just ruined for me by one of our group who decided to kick off a car wing mirror.
Now I didn't really know the guy, but it was a friend of a friend sort of thing. As we were heading home this guy a few meters behind me decides to randomly kick off the wing mirror of a parked car. At this point i'm suddenly struck by the moral dilemma of group dynamics and what I know is right. While no one opposed this all I said was "If that was my car I'd kick your ass". It was basically all I could think of and it could quite easily have been my car. I didn't add that if he'd not been a friend of a friend I'd most likely have called the police or done something further.
This simple event forced me to go home, as I could no longer associate myself with this person. Hopefully my comment had made him reconsider his actions. Perhaps not.

Eternal Darkness

is one damn freaky experience. I've only been playing it for 2-3 hours and already it's screwing with my head. The game itself is not the scary, just running around killing beasties although if your sanity gets low you hear people crying and sometimes cut your own head off just to pick it back up again. The really freaky stuff is actually aimed at the player.
Just after about 2 hours was when the crazy shit happens, like at first I see this little black dot on the screen moving round and pause the game to see if it is actually a fly or not. Then after a while about 5 or 6 little creepy crawly bastards start jiggling round the screen.
However the worst bit was just now after the third chapter it says: Eternal Darkness continues and plays this sort of trailer making you think you've got a demo rather than the real game and then it cuts back to the actual game. That really messed with my head!

I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is mentally unstable, so I guess I shouldn't really be playing it.

I be back from ye watery depths of holidays by ye sea, yarrgh.
I forgot what I was gonna talk about, erm, ah one thing was a sign painted on a dual carriageway that said no entry or something similar, but was facing the wrong way and there were no junctions near by. I can only assume this was for the brave, stupid and extremely lucky people who had managed to get that far along the road travelling in the wrong direction. In other news a car accident just before the junction where we joined the motorway meant that the journey went quite nicely. I hope the people involved were ok, as I could possibly feel somewhat bad if my good fortune was their downfall. It was a lorry and a land rover sooo they're both fairly sturdy vehicles.

Tonight I watched Ghost in the Shell 2, me being the only person to have seen the first one meant that everyone looked bemused and confused by all the philosophy. The animation was rather lovely also.

Oh and finally the great news that spurred me to right this entry was the announcement that Team Fortress 2 will be released together with HL Episode 2.

This brings feelings of great joy, but also worries me as I spent many hours playing the old team fortress and a new will surely have a similar or greater impact. Especially if it has vehicles - god help me if there's vehicles...

Dunoo where I was going with a title like that. Anyways I went to Aikido this week and t'was rather fun, I soon plan to unlock my inner afro powers. I'm thinking maybe after the third class after the aching in my legs subsides.
Sitting Japanese style really does knack, hopefully it gets better with practise or you just pass that pain barrier.
Anyways the first lesson was all about how to fall over. I can now safely fall over and then being ready to kick ass. After lesson 2 of course!

My new car is awesomely sweet and awesome. I drove to Swindon today with the top down all the way and my hair was like a trolls! Cruise control is great as long as you don't forget you set it a 100mph and turn it on in a 40 area. The strangest thing is there's a speed limit that you can set to make sure you don't go too fast, but the lowest speed it can be set at is 120mph! Why would you bother to set it, if you're gonna go to 120 you might as well do the whole 150!
The cup holder is the finest piece of engineering I've ever seen, oh and the hydraulic roof is pretty nifty too.

I'm writing this in the heat of the moment, quite literally as i'm sat on the same swealteringly hot train I have been on for the last 4 hours. Hello Richard, ever heard of air conditioning!?
There's a guy sat to my left who is either deaf or has incredibly bad headphones so everyone in the carriage can hear his crappy music.
On top of this I managed to lose my railcard and had to buy a new one in the 10 minutes I had before catching my train.
I was also sat in this seat from Bristol, which was available when I booked it, but then this bitch appeared saying it was her seat, which indeed it was according to the display, which had changed at some point in the goddamn journey. So I politely told the guy who had just sat next to me to fuck off, luckily for him he obliged.
I then quite reasonably asked "Would you like the window seat?" to miserable bitch. She replied "Yes... Hence the booking." I almost lost it right there and could have begun long diatribe about my lack of mind reading ability, but rather gritted my teeth and said "OK" in an obviously displeased tone.
I should also mention there were other seats available. I then considered moving, but instead decided on making her journey as unpleasant as possible by plugging in the headphones and talking in a pissed off tone on the phone (good rhyming). I also cracked my knuckles as often as possible. Unfortunately I was unable to persuade the horriffically smelly individual to take my seat next to her, that my friends would have been some sweet revenge!

This is why I have to travel first class, it's because people leave me the hell alone!

In short, public transport doesn't work because people hate each other.

Despite what I said previously about MySpace it does have its upsides and I have come defend it from the likes of Kieran and myself.
While MySpace is crap in terms of blogging MySpace music is awesome.
My current favourite artist is Lily Allen, I am totally addicted to these songs and listen to them each about twice a day. She's also got more than the four that are currently up there, as they're rotated every so often. Can't wait for the album, which is sure to be a hit! I think this is actually the first time I can say I really like every song I've heard from an artist.
I actually woke up to "Smile" this morning as it was playing on Core digital radio, which further prompted me to write this post.

And then there's also MC Devvo and Shady Piez who i've mentioned breifly before, but not on this site. They're definitely in a league of their own!

Eurovision

It turned out to be a good idea to record it rather than watch it live, as I could fast forward through the Greece adverts and crap songs.
Finland definitely deserved to win - I mean they had zombie monsters!
I also liked the cocky randomness of the Lithuanian entry.
Bosnia was well boring and I have no idea why it was up there. Ireland was alright if you like Irish music, which I don't and wouldn't have thought most people would.
The Armenian one was also enjoyable, as it reminded me of Betamax from The Mighty Boosh. Although I was hoping that they'd sing the Armenian song from Rock Gods of Rock instead.

I also think that the UK should have scored higher, there were definitely worse songs on there. Especially Turkey - how the fuck did that get to number 11?! I mean the song was crap and the singer looked like a chav picked off the street in Weston Super Mare, it had nothing go for it at all.

Germany was also rubbish, folk music and not even German folk music, which I could have forgiven. Also I know Andorra is basically Spain, but come on 12 points, they were awful - almost as bad as Turkey, but with better looking dancers.

Finally what is the deal with Terry Wogan's ramblings? It's like getting some annoying person to keep stating the obvious in order to make the whole event more pallatable. Fortunately fast-forward also dealt with him.

These statistics are quite disturbing (assuming they're reasonably accurate) coming from a country that apparently stands (should that be stood?) for freedom.
I think this would be more acceptable if Mr Bush would like to give anyone access to his own conversations, but I don't think he'd be jumping at the idea of telling the truth in his own speeches let alone allowing people to hear more of his private ramblings.
When will people understand that you cannot trade freedom for security - it's totally flawed and damn wrong at the most basic level. The fact is it won't help fight terrorsits because the bad guys will use another method and the innocent will suffer the damage.

I don't know if any of you are keeping track of what's going on at E3, but it's all pretty exciting stuff.
I'm now really looking forward to the Nintendo Wii being released although I'm not sure whether i'm pleased or annoyed that Zelda will be released on the same day for both Wii and Gamecube. I guess this will force me to buy a Wii as soon as possbile as they'll be no point getting Zelda for the cube.

FFXII for the PS3 looks really cool, but it's still not enough to sway my loyalty! Although I do own a playstation and I guess they'll both be good consoles. However Nintendo always makes the best games IMO and that's why I'll stick. There's a couple of games on the other consoles that I'd also really like to play, but just not enough.
Also the rumoured low price of Wii is a bonus :)

Was just on myspace and wanted to add a comment to someone's blog, simple enough you'd think? No, not at all.

First I had to sign up for a myspace account, fair enough I'll do it. Then I'm putting my details in (why the hell do you need a post code?! I think it's just to exclude the minority of homeless people and gypsies who have internet access.) and when I make a mistake it randomly resets different boxes so I make a different mistake the next time.
It took me 3 goes before I managed to complete this task.

Then it asks me to upload a picture - wtf? I just want to write a goddamn comment! Arrgh! So I skip that.

Then invite all your friends, invite my friends? Why would I want to subject them to this? So skip that.

So eventually I get back to where I want to be to post a comment. I click write a comment and I'm then told you must be a friend to post a comment! How the fuck can you be a friend of anyone if you can't post a fucking comment! Jesus Christ!
That was pretty much the last straw and I gave up.

Things I Hate

It's time for another instalment of "Things I Hate" (the italics add a nice touch, no?).
I hate tailgating wankers who add pointless things to their crappy cars that make them shittier than they already are. "Duh, I've got a large bore exhaust therefore it means that I must drive in a ridiculous manner and make sure that everyone hears me coming and gets a good look at my post-war Vauxhall Astra". The same logic seems to apply to people who buy ridiculous subwoofers making their tiny boots useless rather than actuall maintaining their Citroen Saxo.

Here's an idea why don't you save your money, then one day you can maybe afford a half decent car. By that time you might even have enough sense not to ruin it by adding a stupid skirt that makes traversing speed bumps impossible. (Such stupid skirts are also bound to get you eaten in a zombie attack as your car becomes wedged on a rotting corpse - I always consider such matters when making any purchase.)

Sorry to offend Vauxhall Astra and Citreon Saxo owners, but those are crap cars no matter what you think or say. Also Vauxhall Nova's and Nissan Micra's are up there too (the old Micra's, I haven't yet formed an opinion of the new model).

Yes at last Le Uber PC has been completed. While there were some minor issues along the way, i'd say that this was my greatest work yet!
Anyway here's the stats:

oh and I bought a nice new 19" LCD and some speakers.

I haven't done a "proper" post for a while, as I've been far too busy doing coursework.
Now it's the holidays however I have a bit of free time while not doing jobs for my parents!
I finally got a job for the summer and it looks like it's gonna be my ideal job - well paid and involves 3D modelling.
I'm not really sure what else to blog about as that's really all the news I have.
I'm also considering taking my car down back South, so if you're in favour say I! but don't expect me to drive everywhere cos I need alcohol to live too!

from the previous post. I've just read that the Pakistani government has blocked access to some blogs hosted on blogspot. This apparently stems from bloggers posting the cartoons of Muhammed, so all blogspot addresses have been blacklisted. I find it appaling that the government can choose what people view, it should be entirely up to them. If they had to do anything they should simply put a warning saying this website may contain offensive images or something like that - not block them entirely.

If you don't know, Smartfilter is the program sold by a US company to many governments in the Middle East who use it to control what their citizens are allowed to view. By placing this image on here I hope to take a small step towards crippling this crappy piece of software and the bastards who use it to limit free speech.

Actually I failed to read the full article and that website is in fact rather misleading. He only claims that cameras should be placed in homes where police had to visit on several occassions, which I perhaps still don't agree with, but it's no where near as bad as what was implied in that selective quote.

I have observed over the past few days the strange behaviour of a fly that enjoys nothing more than to cling to the wall in front of me whenever I am at my desk.
It makes me wonder what it wants. Is it some kind of attention seeking fly, it wouldn't be too surprising as flys are, as everyone knows, inherently show offs. Buzzing round you head, around light fittings - anything to get some attention.
This fly however appears to be far more subtle crawling around quite peacefully. Occassionally it will fly off somewhere and then come back again. I assume it must go off to grab something to eat, probably the festering gravy stuck to the plate I haven't washed for 2 days. That must be it!

This fly has suddenly grown attached to me, as since I've been doing coursework all week I've been pretty lazy when it comes to washing stuff. Like all creatures the fly must appreciate these regular feasts and upon my late return tonight was probably getting pretty pissed off waiting for more food. Anyway like all good things this will have to stop because like all good things my coursework has come to an end and I have time to clean again.

Feast now my little friend before your slow and painful starvation leads to your demise. Bwahahahahaa
